A bit about me...

I spent my whole childhood surrounded by horses, spending every weekend and chance I could get at the yard with my old horse, Trevor, and my friends. We used to always take my mum’s fancy (at the time) Canon camera to get photos with our horses, and I’d always force her to bring her camera along to get photos of me at competitions, training, or literally just at the yard. I loved having photos look back on, and since selling Trevor 4 years ago, they’re the photos I still find myself going back to today.

Fast forward a few years, I went to Nottingham Trent University to study BSc(Hons) Equine Sports Science where I learnt all there is to know about horse biomechanics, welfare, and the industry as a whole. In 2023, I graduated with a First Class Honours degree but ended up with a job in retail management straight out of uni, and due to time and financial commitments, I sold Trevor and took a little break from horses.

Then, in 2025, I quit my retail job and found myself unemployed for a few months (as everyone going through a quarter life crisis does, right?👀). Since stopping riding, I always felt like something was missing, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but with all this free time on my hands, I started thinking about how I could close that gap. I started a small business doing wedding content creation, and as much as I loved the weddings I got to capture, I didn’t feel super passionate about the work I was doing, and that’s when I thought about investing in a camera. I loved the work the wedding photographers I was working alongside were producing, and I wanted to give it a go.

I’d been left some inheritance money from my Grandpa, who loved taking photos and always had his camera out when I was younger, so it felt like fate to use this money to buy something he would have loved too. That’s when I bought my first camera (a Canon R50 for anyone who’s interested). I started small in case I was bad at photography or ended up hating it, and I messaged every single person I knew with a horse to see if I could take photos of them to build my portfolio and have a practise with my camera.

And I LOVED it. I loved being back surrounded by horses, and capturing precious moments between horse and owner, and I was pretty good at it. I’d found something I enjoyed and filled that horse shaped hole without me having to buy another horse (because I still can’t afford that just yet… but one day🤞🏼) and I just wanted to keep going with it. I started emailing local equine event photographers to see if I could come along to events to practise photographing moving horses, and at my first event shadowing the photographers, they asked if I wanted to work with them in the 2026 event season as they liked the work I produced, and I obviously said yes!

I spent the 2026 season photographing events from British Riding Club Championships to BE events to Bramham Horse Trials, building my portfolio, meeting other photographers, learning new skills and capturing some really special partnerships. I love nothing more than standing in the middle of a show-jumping arena hearing riders praise and encourage their horses/ponies and just watching them achieve things they’ve been working so hard towards (even if it’s raining, and I hate the rain).

I still have a lot to learn and some big dreams I want to achieve in the industry, but I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve already had the privilege of experiencing and the people I’ve met along the way. I can’t wait to continue capturing special moments, taking photos that mean something to people, and hopefully preserving memories to look back on like I have with Trev 🤍
